Top Three Tips for Living as an Ebb-Type Personality
Give ourselves PERMISSION!
Counter NEGATIVE SELF-TALK by TELLING ourselves it’s natural to be the way we are. And DOING or NOT DOING things according to what supports our ebb state. We’ve been trying to conform to a norm that doesn’t apply to us.
We’re now going to organize our lives in a way that honours our EBB-TYPE PERSONALITY:
Reduce our obligations to bare essentials to honour our lack of energy right now.
Reduce triggers to our heightened sensitivity by:
Going out less
Eating more carbs
Lessening social interaction and obligations
Let ourselves spend time being less present: ex. reading/watching TV/playing video games - whatever allows us to take a mental break.
Feel our Feelings!
SPEND A LITTLE BIT OF TIME EACH DAY to sit with whatever it is we’re feeling. Whether it’s through meditation, or just practicing feeling what’s there, it doesn’t matter as long as we are present for a bit to FEEL, for a little while. This will ground us in the present in a manageable way and balance giving ourselves permission so that we don’t devolve into escapism that could lead to addiction. It also RELEASES PENT UP EMOTION and helps FREE UP SOME ENERGY in order to accomplish the bare minimum that absolutely NEEDS to get done.
REDEFINING SUPPORT:
Number 1 and Number 2 on this sheet are definitions of support! If we’ve done just a little bit of them, we have supported ourselves. SITTING DOWN is a form of supporting ourselves. Adding up all the small ways in which we already support ourselves; recognizing them as supports rather than the negative self-talk: ‘laziness’, ‘lack of accomplishment’, ‘failure’ RATHER: ‘taking a badly needed break’, ‘recharging’, ‘reassessing and taking our time’!
REMEMBER: HONOURING OUR EBB-TYPE PERSONALITIES IS AN ACT OF SUPPORTING OURSELVES!
